It is with great sorrow that we write about the passing of our dear father, Dr. Ahmad Sakr. Involved in countless organizations both nationally and locally, Dr. Sakr dedicated his life to service. Dr. Sakr served as one of the founding members of MSA National in 1963, and would later serve as the Secretary in 1964, and then move on to becoming a two-term President. Aside from MSA National, Dr. Sakr also aided in the establishment of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the World Council of Mosques, and was the first director of the Muslim World League to the UN.
Dr. Sakr was an educator by profession at several universities. He authored over 50 books and was a well-traveled speaker all over the world.
Whether it was service to the community at large, his local community, or his family, Dr. Sakr taught us what it meant to sacrifice and serve for the greater good. We pray that God grants Dr. Sakr the highest levels of Paradise. We also pray for the family of Dr. Sakr during this difficult time.
